The countdown is on to the TAS and Junior TAS Athletics Carnivals! For many of our students, this is one of the most exciting days of the year. From the heat on the track and the action in the field events, to the roar from the stands, it’s sure to be a fantastic day from start to finish.

It’s two huge days for TAS and Junior TAS where sport and community come alive at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre (QSAC). It’s where every student can give it their all in their chosen events with the support of their school and the entire TAS community.

As we know, preparation and training begins long before the bus arrives at the venue! Here are a few tips to help you get ready for the Athletics Carnival so you can put your best foot forward.

Training

Every event, whether on the track or in the field, requires training. Not only does it help you perform at your best, but it also prepares your body and mind for the challenge ahead.

Make the most of those morning and afternoon training sessions. The more prepared you are, the more confident you’ll feel when it’s time to get one foot in front of the other on race day.

Fuel & Recovery

Training is essential, but equally important is giving your body the right fuel to perform at its best. A consistent, balanced diet filled with fibre and carbohydrates will give you the energy you need to succeed.

Recovery matters too. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep, warming up before events, and stretching after exercise so your body can recover and prevent injury.

Support

The Athletics Carnival is one of the most exciting sporting events of the year, showcasing a huge array of talent. But what makes it truly special (aside from the sporting achievements), is the atmosphere created by students, staff, parents, and schools.

While it’s fun to be competitive, please remember to show respect and encouragement to all participants so everyone has the chance to perform at their best.

A positive atmosphere is what makes the day unforgettable.

Have fun

Picture this: you’re lining up for your race, or setting your feet before launching that discus or shot. You’ve trained, fuelled, and prepared, so now it’s time to perform. While competition is why you are there, remember to breathe, take it all in, and enjoy the moment. The atmosphere is electric, and it’s a day full of fun.

Good luck

We can’t wait to see all the talent in action. Good luck to everyone, and most importantly, enjoy the day!
